Welcome to our website!
We’re a small group of parents of
children with diabetes.
We know living with diabetes isn’t
easy, and there are often times when we want to chat with other people who really
understand, in a supportive environment.
What do we do?
Once a month we hold a two hour meeting.
The meetings alternate between having a guest speaker talking about issues such as
adolescence, diet, pumps and research, and talking amongst ourselves, sharing ideas, experiences and concerns, generally supporting
one another when it all seems tough. None of us are experts, but we do
listen and share ideas, and we would love to see you.
Twice a year we organise a day out
for the children with diabetes and their families.
We also undertake research to help us develop and campaign for better services. To take part in our new, brief survey about access to dieticians and psychologists, please click here.
Who is it for?
The group is for for all parents of
children with diabetes in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
Some of our members have children
who have had diabetes for just a few months, others for over 10 years. Some
children are using pumps, some are on daily injections, and others are on
multiple daily doses.
The meeting are for parents only, as
we don’t have any facilities for childcare at the meetings.
The Committee
DiSC is run by a committee comprising the following members:
Elaine Lunts Chairperson
Hazel Hughes Membership Secretary
Sandra Raynor Publicity Secretary
Steve
Evans Treasurer
Debbie Young Webmaster
Louise & Stuart Arnold
The committee meets from 7-8pm just before the main meeting. We are always happy to welcome new committee members so please feel free to volunteer.
